How many dirty diapers should my 6 week old be having?

my 6 week old son is only breastfed and does not have a dirty diaper but once every 3 days or so. He does have 5-7 wets a day just no dirtys. Is this normal for him ONLY being on breast milk?

  • 6-8 diapers in a 24 hr period, wet or poo. EBF babies can safely go up to around 10(ish) days without a bowel movement as long as the stool is not dry, hard or pellet like.

  • It can be had to tell wet diapers with disposables. The best way to tell if a baby is getting enough is by weight gain. You want your baby to gain at least 4 ounces a week or a pound a month.

Human milk is easy to digest and some babies will go days without poops.
