"Negro" on the census form?

How you feel about the word negro being used on the 2010 census forms?

  • I think it is outdated, but there are still people put there that refer to black people that way. In the future when people no longer use it, it will likely be deleted. My guess is it is elderly people they are including the term for.

  • It doesn't offend me at all. I moved to small town in Mississippi and have been referred to by some whites as "colored" yet I am still not offended. You have to know who you are and I really don't think they were trying to be racist. If they were oh well I did not take the bait.

  • Well, negro means black. They still refer to white people as white. So, who cares?

  • and then there are those who get offended when someone calls them black or African American. I don't know what to say anymore without offending someone.

  • Actually it was put on the form because BLACK people who called themselve " nergo" complained about it not being on there> It was fought for, this had already been coverd months ago when people deciede to throw a fit over it.
