In your opinion,is this a healthy lunch for a 13 month old?

1 cup of cut up mixed fruit. 4 unsalted saltine crackers. 1/2 cup of low fat small curd cottage cheese. 4 oz grape juice.

  • sounds healthy, but my son would laugh at that...and then be mad if there wasnt any thing else..thats more of a snack or breakfast for my kid!? but definitely healthy!

  • My DD at 13 months old ate more then that but if that fills the LO up then that sounds like a great lunch.

  • I figured the cottage cheese had that covered. And I gave her yogurt at breakfast.
    Its getting kinda hard to choose what to feed her, shes getting slightly picky these days, lol. Plus she just got over being sick so she's not eating that much.But she seems to be chowing what i gave her down because its things that she really likes.

  • I would do a wheat or whole grain cracker instead. I would also leave out the juice (it's empty calories and trains up a sweet tooth).

  • sounds good to me. sometimes when we are in a hurry, or my son is just too hungry to wait. i cut up sandwhich meat, cheese, fruit and that's that. it works.

  • definitely add some more protein.

    and a whole grain cracker instead of saltines.

    milk or water instead of juice.

  • I don't think saltine crackers are very healthy. It should be some kind of whole wheat crackers.

  • Yeah, my son would have laughed at it too when he was little. He ate everything in sight and wanted more after that,lol. So I guess I'm just having a little bit of a confusing time trying to figure this one out,lol.She makes me have to think more about it than my son did. I want to give her stuff that is balanced and healthy because she does eat so little at once, I want to make sure what she is getting in her is what she needs. I don't know. I'm a mom, not a nutritionist,lol. By time I'm done learning what to feed her, I think I will be a professional though,lol.
