Singing Happy Birthday to a relative that has passed?

Would this be weird to you? Today was DH's grandmother that passed three years ago birthday and everyone sang and enjoyed cake at the grave yard.

  • I think it's nice to honor a passed loved one on their birthday, but cake at the graveyard seems kind of tacky to me.

  • We always get together for my late DH's birthday at the cemetery, but have never thought to sing Happy Birthday or have a cake. There's nothing happy about it for us, although we are happy he's at peace now and no longer suffering.

  • going ans singing was nice, but eating cake at the graveyard is..different. unless there is like a park area there, or something to that effect.
