How long do you have to press charges? I already wrote a report.

A girl took a bite out of my daughter.

  • The sooner the better. Hopefully you took pictures of the bite you can use this to back your claim, plus the report. But I got to warn you, since she is a juvenile, not much will be done about it.

  • Ok, you said you wrote a report, do you mean a police report?

The one time I had to deal with the police and write out a police report, they asked me right then and there if I wanted to press charges.

  • I took photos, and stuff.

Last month she had a fight and hit a girl with a lock? I don't know if the other mom did anything?

  • How old are the kids? Do you really need to file charges against a child?

  • 14/15 I didn't press charges because of her age.
Now I am thinking, she told my daughter not to tell, and she did hit a girl in the head with a lock in school a month ago. Oh, and it is not press charges it is sign a complaint.

  • You file a complaint and the Prosecuting Attorney decides whether or not to charge the person with a crime.

  • I didn't realize they were teens- when i think of biting i usually think of small children- i would definitly file a complaint.
