Physically, I can only sleep on my back at night in our bed. My dr. said it's OK as long as I elevate my right hip with a pillow & prop myself up with pillows behind my back & neck. However, when my back gets sore, as it does EVERY night, I can't switch positions bc NOTHING else feels comfortable & I get sore on either side within 30 minutes (bc my belly juts out onto my side)! I toss & turn all night and am sleeping no more than 2-3 hours a night. Any suggestions, tips, advice?

Have to go to work FT every day and am exhausted!! I am a teacher
Almost 24 weeks pregnant, not "high risk"
Dr. just suggests the pillows, that's it... NO MEDS, not even OTC

I slept on my back I was told as long as i was feeling ok lik ethat(ome people have numbness in their legs) then i was okay. I would also sleep on my belly

I'm pregnant with my 5th - when I'm pregnant I typically only sleep 2-3 hours at a time, then I'm up for a little, then get another 2-3 hours, etc. A lot of drs will recommend Unisom and B6 for nausea so there are some OTC sleep medications that are safe, available and might help. You could ask the pharmacist at your local drug store.

I slept with five pillows when I was pregnant. I would switch positions a lot during the night. I had one pillow between my legs. One against my back so when I turned onto my back in my sleep, I was elevated a little, and then one under my belly to support the weight a bit. The other two were for my head and shoulders because I had heartburn so bad I had to sleep somewhat reclined. Pregnancy sleeping is the WORST.

I got a pillow wedge(kind of shaped liked a triangle) and put it under my belly when I slept on my side. Otherwise, you might just haveto get used to it. That's what I did.

A heating pad may help with your back pain. Since you can't move around much, the heat will stay in the same area. Just make sure you can reach the controller to adjust the settings and turn it off as needed.

Try a maternity body pillow, they are heaven!! Or how about a bath before bed
