How long do you "know" someone?

So, I want opinions. Say you knew somebody for awhile, but have had no contact with them for 10 years. Do you still say that you know them? Do you say that you knew them? When does the period for knowing somebody expire, if it even does so?

  • I think it depends on how close you were 10 yrs or so ago. I don't think it expires. If you know them..at least their name and have spoken to them more than once..You can say..I know so and so!

  • I've refriended a lot of people on FB that I haven't spoken to in 10-15 years. I say that I've known them since HS, but didn't talk to them for 10 years. People change, but not fundamentally. They have the same personalities, just their experiences and activities have changed over the years.
