What does this new healthcare bill mean for me?

We pay a portion of our health insurance through DH's work. And his employer pays the rest. We pay $48 a week for a family of 5, Independent Health.
What's going to change? How's this plan supposed to be good for everyone?

  • Your employer may cancel your insurance if it's cheaper to pay a fine. Otherwise nothing changes for you personally while millions of others who don't have employer care are screwed. They get to pay monthly premiums up front and hope they can afford to live until they get the subsidy from the government the following year like a tax refund.

  • "Otherwise nothing changes for you"

Nothing? Really? OP's taxes won't be hiked? Hmmm, don't know if I believe that.

  • Basically you just got a big paycut b/c of the taxes of the healthcare plan.
