There is already a shortage of doctors. Now doctors and nurses are resigning.

Do you know any that are? Many are older doctors and nurses that are not going to play this game. (These are friends of mine, I don't have a link, but they say it is going to happen and be in the news it is that bad.)

  • It's not alarmist BS.  Here is an article for you.

Doctor And Nursing Shortage Could Undermine Health Care Reform

Answer by mancosmomma at 12:55 PM on Mar. 23, 2010

  • Doctors in my town are pretty happy about this reform. They are saying it will help. I'm not seeing these doctors and nurses that are quitting...hell, I've got several nurses in the family and they're all stoked.

  • I am a nurse and work with doctors. I have heard not 1 person (yet) say they will be resigning over this bill. I could understand how this might entice some nearing retirement age (especially MDs) to make the transition.

  • I would not even want to go to a DR who would quit over something like this

  • get back to us when you have more than anonymous anecdotes.

Answer by autodidact at 12:26 PM on Mar. 23, 2010

  • Yeah whatever. I'm a nurse and I am not quitting my job over this. I spent too long to get my BSN and get a decent job. I don't know too many doctors who are quitting. I make too good of a salary to play stupid ass games like that. I love my patients, their families, and even the doctors. I don't know of anyone in my hospital who cares about this. We put patient care over politics. If there are nurses who quit, then the hospitals are just going to outsource and hire nurses from overseas.

  • You seem forget that they have HIGH bills they have to pay! And if they are not getting the money than how will they pay their nurses?
They will forced to quite in some areas!

Answer by gammie at 12:28 PM on Mar. 23, 2010

  • I can see how it may force some out of buisness if they no longer make enough to keep the bills paid.

Answer by VeronicaLee at 12:43 PM on Mar. 23, 2010

  • It's all alarmist bullshit.

Answer by Anonymous at 12:50 PM on Mar. 23, 2010

  • No they are not quitting! And if they went into medical school to make big bucks they went in it for the wrong reasons!
