  • Seizures caused by high fevers are called febrile seizures and are usually outgrown. Seizures (more than 2) for apparently no reason are Epilepsy (also known as a seizure disorder). You might have to take your child to a neurologist or even better an. GL epileptologist. GL

  • It could be a number of things really. Seizures are very serious and are often a symptom of some sort of neurological or brain disorder. It is very important for you to take your child to the doctor right away if this is happening.

  • OP here.....it's not my child, it is an old friend of mine (they live 300 miles away) her grandbaby is going through this and I don't want to ask to many questions, the family is just to emotional right now.

  • Oh I wanted to add, let them know not to place anything in the childs mouth and I would recommend for them to call their local epilepsy foundation, they will provide free advice and assistance and if they qualify free medical care.

  • febrile seizures don't even need to be from high fevers...and are not harmful. if the family is very emotional i suspect more is going on than febrile seizures. just let them know you are there for them if they need you :)
