  • You can have up to 300mcg of caffine a day so a glass or two is okay.

However, a study released in 2006 (when I was pregnant with my daughter) said that women who drank the "allowed" amount of caffine were 17% more likely to miscarry so I always go caffine free in the first trimester and then no more than 300mcg the rest of my pregnancy. I do try to avoid caffine all together during pregnancy but sometimes I just NEED a piece of chocolate. LOL.

There are decaf teas that are meant to be iced and taste the same as regular tea.

  • Yes it is safe. But like anon said it does contain caffeine so I wouldn't drink a lot of it.
I drank tea with both pregnancies.

  • Yep. I buy the decaf but that's about all I drink, well and water.

  • You should really try to avoid caffeine while pregnant if you can. I think I gave in a few times during my third trimester and had a diet coke. Like Anonymous said though, I probably ate chocolate all the time and that has caffeine.

  • i drank alot of iced tea when i was pregnant

but here is an afterthought- make sure your iron levels are ok- something in iced tea interferes with iron absorption. i was on iron pills and i'm wondering now if it was just all the iced tea i drank

  • The first poster is wrong. It's not 300mcg, it's 200mg. That's the equivalent of two regular cups of coffee or one very strong cup. Tea has less caffeine than coffee.
