Am I the only one who doesn't do presents for easter?

I keep seeing these adds for toys r us and other store talking about toys for easter. Am the only one not buying easter presents and just doing the good old fashion easter basket? I never got toys for easter when I was little. I guess toys are healthier, but my daughter has so much crap, I am not going to make another holiday about toys. I am planning on doing a small easter basket with a little bit of candy and snacks and maybe a book.

  • The only toys I ever gave my daughter for Easter were stuffed animals. I always have a huge Easter basket for her, but no other toys. Like your daughter, mine has way more toys than she needs.

  • I do a mix. They get their cheap summer stuff like chalk, bubbles, water guns and some candy. I don't spend $100's on a basket though.

  • Your daugher is lucky to have "so much crap".

My kids and my grandson have always needed spring/summer toys and Easter is a good time to give them. I don't give candy and my grandson is allergic to eggs. I've been getting small spring toys as an alternative.

  • I agree with Gailll :) Instead of a "basket, we give something useful like a rubbermaid bin for toys, new smal trashcan for tehir rooms or a hat. We put a little candy but the main attraction is the spring and summer outdoor toys like bubbles, sidewalk chalk, sunglasses...gets them ready to get out in the sunshine and have sume fun!

  • We never got toys for Easter when we were kids. We got an Easter Basket and did an Easter Egg Hunt.
I'm skipping the basket and just doing the Easter Egg Hunt. We will put little treats inside the eggs.

  • We celebrate easter but we don't do easter baskets on easter morning. We make one basket that is like a center piece on our table with a little candy several days before and after. We don't do the easter bunny thing at all.

  • well my girls don't get regular toys likes barbies or what not. they are getting summer clothes candy and outdoor stuff like bubbles and chalk. I'm thinking of getting my oldest sand box stuff so she can have something to play with in there. I don't go over board on easter and my youngest has a birthday 3 weeks after easter so she doesn't need toys.

  • We're doing baskets. I am planning on some inexpensive toys, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, things like that. We're not doing a lot of candy either. Some but not a lot.

  • I like to put a DVD or two in my DD's basket, along with candy and small items. We also hide eggs around the house. I use Easter as another opportunity to get DD something special, since her Birthday doesn't arrive until the end of August. This year her special item will be The Princess and the Frog.
