Should you have to pass the citizenship test before you can graduate or vote?

Seriously, the number of times people don't understand the bare basics of how our system of government works, or how it is spelled out in the constitution, gets kind of frightening.

And if you're wondering what's on it, you can take a practice test here:

  • Well just for your information- You have to be a citizen to vote, therefore anyone who wasnt born a citizen and becomes a legal resident cannot vote. And anyone who becomes a citizen has already taken the citizens test

  • Would it really matter? How our government works and how it's spelled out in the constitution is pretty much like comparing apples to oranges. They are both fruit but........just not the same.

It would weed out a lot of the ones who vote for whichever candidate has a cuter smile. But regardless, it should at least be a graduation requirement - how can you function in society if you don't even understand the basic structure of that society?

  • Go ahead, take the test.... Humor me. Maybe you should vote for better teachers, thats a start. Maybe we should be learning from teachers who actually know what they are talking about instead of just reading a book to us. How about it? Imagine that, what would the world be like with teachers who knew what they were talking about

Oh, but then we'd still have all the people that vote for candidates based on the lesser of two evils or which  candidate is better at being a bold faced liar.

  • I agree with everyone needing to take the test. Also, the need for better teachers.
