I just put a beef roast in the crockpot, or in a deep baking dish, with some frozen peas, fresh cut up carrots, potatoes and chunks of onion. I add garlic, bay leaves, fresh ground pepper, then I choose a liquid, beef broth, apple cider, wine, beer, any works, sometimes I use the beef broth and one of the other liquids. I like to have a couple of inches of liquid. In the crockpot let it cook all day, If you're home turn the roast occasionally, in the oven cook it at 300 degrees, for a couple of hours or so, turning the roast and breaking it up as it cooks.
