  • For a large number of people... yes the quote is quite fitting. Many people try to mold God into something they want and need Him to be. Then they "pray" to that God and expect Him to give them what they think they need.

Kinda like the song recoded by Janis Joplin in 1970:
Oh lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz.
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends.
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends.
So oh lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz
Oh lord won't you buy me a color TV.
Dialing for dollars is trying to find me.
I wait for delivery each day until 3.
So oh lord won't you buy me a color TV.
Oh lord won't you buy me a night on the town.
I'm counting on you lord, please don't let me down.
Prove that you love me and buy the next round.
Oh lord won't you buy me a night on the town...

  • I actually heard a quote from a woman who was hoping to adopt a newborn baby. When the natural mother decided to keep it, the hopeful adopter said that the natural mother "went against God's will" by raising her own child instead of giving it to her. Can you believe that?!?!?
