how can you tell if your baby is allergic to dogs?

the past 2 nights my son has woken up screaming bloody murder for 3 hours straight and has a slight runny nose, at 1 am, he is always a good sleeper he sleeps from around 9 to 9... we recently got a puppy, but he is also getting more teeth.... i dont know what it is... is it the dog or the teeth?

  • Sounds like teething. Allergies don't make you scream.

  • My guess would be teeth. Screaming would indicate pain. When my 9 year old realized he was allergic to cats he was visiting a friend who has three cats and was in the cat room when his eye swelled almost shut and he started sneezing followed by a runny nose. It happened a couple of more times around other people's cats and around a rabbit. Very dramatic. We took him for the skin tests, and that said he was allergic to dogs too. but we have a dog and he has never reacted that severely. Boy the pollen sure gets him this time of year though.  Constant runny nose, but it is clear unless he gets a secondary infection.  If it was the dog his nose would at least be running.

  • He can be tested by an allergist.
