  • First, define through the night. Some people say 5 hours, some people say 8. Nine months with my second for what I considered through the night, 10-6. My first coslept, so I don't really know when she started.

  • My son started sleeping 8 hours at 6 weeks and 10-12 hours at about 8-10 weeks. We were very lucky!

  • My dd started sleeping thru the night when she was 8.5 months old.

I didn't do the CIO thing, but I didn't run in the room every time she whimpered. I waited a couple of minutes. 9 out of 10 times, she would just go back to sleep. If it was a TRUE "I need you, Mommy" cry, I would go in, pat her back, then leave the room.

  • Oh yeah- she slept from 7:30pm until 7am. She still does now at 21 months old.

  • I have a daughter who has always had a hard time staying asleep. It was probably 10-11 months before she slept until 5 am once in a while without waking up, but at 2 she still wakes up and comes in to my room anywhere from 1 am to 6 am. I have finally started saying "oops you got up." and putting her back in her bed. Some kids have a hard time sleeping!

  • At a month my son would sleep for 6 hours straight and that was enough for me. I asked my pediatrician if I should be waking him up to feed him, and she said no as he was eating more than enough during the day.

  • dd was 2 mos when she started sleeping through the night! At the time, she went to bed at midnight and slept until 6 am (to me, that's sleeping through the night!) I didn't start the ferber method until she was 18 mos old and she started fighting sleep and had already given up both naps.

  • I didn't ferberize... I just let my daughters take some time to see if they could work things out on their own. They didn't scream their guts out... like one of the pps said, I just didn't run to her bedside. Sometimes I would even give her 5 minutes. Never more than that, though. Sometimes my husband would go in there, too. I think both my girls slept through until about 4 or 5 am by around 6 or 7 months. Maybe till 6 am by about 10 or 11 months? We haven't gotten beyond that with my first daughter, though, she's an early riser!

  • My daughter started sleeping about 6 hours at a time at 3 months and by about 6 months, she was sleeping 8 hours. She has been sleeping 12 hours a night since about 11 months old now and she is almost 21 months. I have never let her cry it out.
