  • Generally don't numbers show that the south is the unhealthiest area of the United States? Probably due to good ol Southern food. :)

  • definitely.

location is definitely a factor in what you eat - the coast there's lots of fresh seafood. the warmer areas (florida for ex.) there're citrus and fruits.

I'm in cattle country - we have BEEF. lol and grain. yay Alberta Beef.

  • im coastal in so. cal. because the weather is so amazing we are out going going going 12 months a year. I can see how the lifestyle is very healthy compared to my cousins in the mid west who are house bound for a good chunk of time. I also think the vitamin D helps keep us from picking up little colds and keeps the emotions better. Gloomy days seem to do more emotionally then people realize.

  • Country certainly does not mean healthier. Sure, maybe the air is lil better....but most of the folks i know that live in the country here in GA have the WORSTE diet i have ever known. Sugar content is super high in their diets, & most eat pork on a daily basis. There is also less restaurants to go to, so it leaves them geting lots of fast food when they do near a down town area. I know LOTS of country folk here in GA, and %95 of them eat like crap. Except for the ones who manage to keep gardens.

Yes, different parts of the country are more healthy. California is the healthiset place i have ever been. They make healthy food readily available to everybody.

  • Of course. The smoking rates have the biggest impact.

  • Yes, there are a ton of factors at play. From what the popular local cuisine is, to how available outside activities are to to the overall attitude about health that people in the community have.
