My son has the 4 in one crib and this weekend my husband took his crib rails down and put his safety rails up for a toddler bed. My son is two and slept fine in his crib. nothing else has changed but he is scared of it and will not sleep in it unless He falls asleep and I sneak him in there. need advice badly please. thanks in advance.

  • He's used to the security of the crib and may think he'll fall out of the bed. If you haven't already, try placing the bed so it's against a wall on one side, then you can put a chair near the end on the open side. It'll give him that sense of security until he gets used to it....gradually remove the chair, like at nap time, tell him something like, "you're such a big boy, you don' t need this chair here for nap time". Keep reminding him of being a big boy...and he'll catch on fast

  • bump abover, also let him help put pillows on the ground or cushions so he has helped make it safe. It is often just them seeing that if it okay and soft if he falls. He won't need them there forever and he might like a bit of "construction" work LOL

  • also if he is scared and there is no other reason for altering the bed other than his age, just put the crib rails back on. Try turning the crib so the drop side is against the wall, then leave the dropped side down. He will get used to there not being a crib wall. Take care when lifting him out though and be sure you've locked the wheels if you do this
