They say my placenta is too low... what does this mean?

  • It doesnt mean anything unless it is low enough to cover part of your cervix. If your placenta covers any part of your cervix then it is called placenta previa and you will need to have a c-section and possibly be put on bedrest later on in pregnancy because it can cause bleeding. If its not covering the cervix and is still low then the only problem it would cause is if you, by chance, needed a c-section. The doc might have to cut through the placenta before he/she can get to the baby. It makes for a much quicker and more frantic section

  • The placenta can "migrate" a bit during pregnancy; it is a problem if part of it is covering your cervix.
