  • Everyone will be technical and tell you 6 months. But around 5 months I started both of my boys...they were both around 17 pounds and sitting well with assistance. Did the cereal and thickened it slowly then introduced veggies first, then fruits second. It's so fun.

  • If breastfed, the AAP recommends six months earliest...and that's only if the external readiness cues are there...loss of tongue thrust, able to sit up.

You don't HAVE to start with cereal. It's not very tasty. Mashed banana or avocado are both great starters. And YES, they WILL eat veggies even if you introduce fruit first.

  • 6 months. I started with rice cereal then oatmeal. Also I did veggies first because I believe once they have fruit first they have a hard time with the taste of veggies. JMO. My daughter loves oatmeal cereal till this day. Plain with water.

  • When said child is able to sit either unsupported or with minimal support. I'd follow your pediatrician's guidelines. And only one food at a time for a few days to determine allergies.
