baby sleeping too much?

I have a 12 week old baby boy and i was wondering if he sleeps to much because he stays awake for about an hour then goes back to sleep. Sometimes it feels like he sleeps his whole day away then at night he is up every three hours. Is there something i should be doing?

  • Sounds like he's a normal baby.

  • Babies sleep. That's what they do. They have a lot of growing to do. Don't worry, it won't be long before he's awake more.

  • My baby slept what seemed like a lot of time too. I woke him up every 3 hours during the day to feed, and tried to play with him until he got really fussy, then I would put him down. At night, I would let him sleep as long as he could, keep the lights low and didn't talk much. It didn't take him long to get his sleep patterns figured out.

  • my nearly 13 month old twins sleep a lot more than most babies their age (which is about 12 hours at night and 3 2-hour naps a day. If he's really fussy when he's awake ask if you can get his hemoglobin checked. Mine were acting really weird when they were little babies b/c when they were awake they would scream and then they would sleep a lot...we found out they both have an iron deficiency. They have vitamins...and it helps a lot!
