  • My son will be 3 in June, and he still takes a 3-4 hour nap almost every day. I don't see him stopping any time soon.

  • my 3 yr old has for the most part stopped her 1-2 hour naps.. rarely she'll get crabby & need one... my 7 yr old only naps if sick & stopped napping by 3 yr old.. my 11 yr old stopped mostly at 3 & completely at 4 yr old.. however if shes sick she'll nap at 11..
I'm 34 & rarely I get a nap lol.. I think it is different with each person depends on if they really need the nap or the parent is just trying to rest.. if you need a rest have your child do quite play in their room.

  • Five. And honestly, I'm not sure it was a good idea. She got cranky around dinner time.

  • dd quit at 18 mos. On occasion she'll take a midday one but only for an hour and NEVER after 2 or she won't sleep at all at night, then she's up by 6 the next morning and will stick out the day until dinner when she falls asleep right when she's full. Naps don't work for my child anymore.... *sigh* they are missed

  • My older kids quit right around 3, but we still had "rest time" when nap time used to be until they were in school.

  • I'd like to add that I napped up until I started first grade, and my mom said not taking a nap then was a huge adjustment for me.

And while my older kid still naps heavily at almost 3 yrs, my younger one, who will be 1 in a couple of weeks, takes a 2-3 hour nap every day, and will probably be over her naps at an earlier age than her brother. It's different for each child, so just follow your child's cues.
