I am making a cake and have thought about making it with homemade buttercream, but I dont have much time, I was wondering where can I buy buttercream icing, not like the frosting at walmart, but real buttercream?

  • If you don't want the Duncan Hines/Betty Crocker premade frosting, then the only other option is to make it yourself:

    4 Tablespoons butter
    2 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
    1 teaspoon vanilla
3 Tablespoons milk or cream (whipping cream or half & half would make it much creamier than milk would)

You may need to add a little more milk/cream to get the right consitency.

  • It's easy to make, easier than going to the store. It takes like 5 min. to make.

  • Go to type "buttercream icing" into the search. You'll get a bunch of good recipes. Store-bought "buttercream" is nastier than betty crocker canned junk.
