What else can you use for chapped lips if you have no chapstick?

  • Lotion,Vaseline or even a small amount of cooking type oil,not as horrible as it sounds if they are chapped can help until you get chapstick.

  • Solid veggie shortening is great. You can also pinch a piece of Aloe plant and `sooth your lips. Rub it on let it set then coat with lip balm, or shortening. I know it sounds gross, but I remember my GGrD (1899-1987) putting lard or bacon grease on my coz's lips when they were so bad the bottom split open and it worked.

  • My Dearest Mother always swore by lard.Nowdays I use Queen Helene Cocoabutter stick (Walgreen's .99). It's also a wonder working ankle, knee, and elbow moisturizer.
