Do you say "SHUT UP" to your kids in public?

  • I really try not to get too upset in public, just because there are freaks out there that think if you raise your voice to your child, they have to call DFS....I don't say shut up to them either way. That is on the "list" of things we don't say....right under: hate, kill, stupid, yucky, ugly, duh.....and probably some more, but yeah, if you say it, they will correct you.

  • no. I have tried to avoid it in private too. But I do have two teenagers... so I know that it has slipped out.

  • I never tell her to shut up. I will tell her she needs to quiet down, or give her the "shush" signal, but I've never told her shut up.

  • Yes. Sometimes, they need to. I don't consider "shut up" to be a bad word phrase. People are too namby-pamby about that. Seriously.
