  • No healthcare is free. Someone is footing the bill and that someone is the tax payers.

  • Well, YOU might not have to pay for it, but SOMEONE is paying the bills for your (and all the other) kids to get health & dental. Doctors don't work for free as a rule. They might for an individual, but not for the general child population....

  • When I was a dependent in Virginia, my mom paid for everything.... Soooooo, not sure why we had to pay and no one else does? On another subject, VA just sent my DH a bill for back taxes when he was stationed there in the Navy and worked at a sub shop for a summer back in 1995! It was approx. 300 in taxes (that he DID pay) and they are NOW attempting to collect 1,300! There's no statute of limitations in VA and after doing some research, I found that VA is notorious for these kinds of unfounded tax claims. Good luck moving back! Keep all of your tax forms for the rest of your life! ;-)

  • Like PPs have said, everyone is paying through higher taxes. Honestly, I don't have a problem with this. It falls within STATE laws. Don't like it? Move to another state. My biggest issues with the Obamination's bill is that he is completely stepping on states' rights and forcing American citizens to buy a product. That is completely unconstitutional. But then, he doesn't give a crap about the constitution. He has proven it time and again.

  • Any chance this is the CHIP/SCHIP program? Which would also be known as Medicaid!

Answer by LoriKeet at 10:32 PM on Apr. 3, 2010

  • nope, it's the FAMIS program. there is also a FAMIS standard, where you can be with a private organization, and they help you out. if you qualify for FAMIS alone, then you can qualify for standard if you would like, and FAMIS standard reimburses you a certian amount per child, whatever you qualify for, making your payments smaller. like for instance, your insurance bill is $350 a month, you have 3 kids and each get $100, then they pay the $300, so you only have $50 to pay out of pocket. you can't make more than a certain amount a month though, for FAMIS and FAMIS Standard

  • Oregon also has a plan similar to this. We pay 11% in state income taxes.

  • So do most states.
