  • I usually don't use anything. My mom will sometimes mix italian seasoning into tomato sauce or paste w/water - if she made them italian style, and when I was younger she'd sometimes use a can of cream of whatever soup mixed with a little milk or water. A couple times I have put a dollop of ketchup on top of each when I put them in the oven...I've tried BBQ sauce but kids didn't like MIL uses a can of tomato soup...but then again, these are all oven-baked, I've never pan-fried meatballs. If you're having them with pasta, use spaghetti sauce ;). Yum!

  • My aunt slow cooks a whole box of Schwans meatball in a crockpot for 2-3 hours and the sauce is one whole jar of grape jelly and a whole bottle of A-1, and they're DELICIOUS.

  • If I am making meatballs for spaghetti, I do not put any sauce on them, but serve them on the side with pasta and sauce.

My husband loves these Sweet and Sour Meatballs
    2 lbs.ground beef
    3 eggs
    1/2 c. finely chopped onion
    1 t. salt
    1 1/2 c. dry bread crumbs
    2 t. canola oil
Mix all ingredients together except canola oil. Shape into 1 1/2" balls. Brown in canola oil on all sides. Transfer to a greased 13x9" baking dish. Combine sauce ingredients in sauce pan:
    3 1/2 c. tomato sauce
    3/4 c. packed brown sugar
    12 ginger snaps, finely crushed
    1/4 c. white vinegar
    1 t. onion salt
Bring to a boil over medium heat. Stir until cookie crumbs are dissolved. Pour over meatballs. Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes until sauce is bubbly. Yum!
