  • haha i LOVED that song growing up. it was one of my favorites to sing cause you got to bounce outta your seat at the word "tack" haha.

but my favorite was always "roll the gospel chariot" b/c you got to run over the devil (and sometimes my brother haha). does anyone remember that song?

  • I used to have a cassette tape with Various songs on it From I've got the Joy, joy, joy down in my heart
Seek ye First (though we alwasys sang it Seekey first
    Jesus lives the little children,
this little light of mine, etc.
Though I can honestly say I never heard the line about the devil sitting on a tack. It wasn't even on the cassette tape I had. Hmm I wonder if I still have that cassette hidden somewhere.

  • Oh I remember those! There was alot of songs that my grandmother taught me as I child. We took walks in late summer afternoons and sat on the swing at twilight and sang those songs. Such wonderful memories!

Here is one we used to love

    The Gospel Chariot

We will roll the gospel chariot along
    (2 more times)
Cause we can't hang on behind.

If my mother's in the way
    We will stop
    And take her in
    (Repeat 2 more times)
Cause she can't hang on behind

(Repeat first line and go through all family members)

If the devil's in the way we will run right over him
    (Repeat 2x)
Cause he can't hang on behind

    We also sang
He's Got the Whole World In His Hands
    Deep and Wide
