  • I don't know if all religions are the same, but for Catholic Baptism yes you need at least one Godparent for the child.

  • I just dedicated my baby, too. He'll be baptized when he's old enough to make the decision himself. Different religions are just different, i guess....

  • We do baby dedication and don't use god parents. Baptism we do when you become a believer at any age. It is not a requirement of salvation for us. (great lakes baptist conference)

  • Depends on the church. At my husband's Lutheran church we did have to have Godparents. But at my Lutheran church we didn't need to have any.

  • It depends on the denomination and the individual church. Ask the pastor at the church your child will be baptized in.
