Anyone on Ortho Tri-Cyclen and breastfeeding?

My baby is 5 months old and breastfeeding and my OB recommended me taking it.

    Has it effected your milk supply? This is really what I'm concerned about.

  • No they put me on the mini-pill to be able to breastfeed.

  • It definitely affects supply, and there is concern over extra estrogen in your milk, though I don't know if that's true or now. The mini pill is what is recommended, but I gotta say I don't think it's enough for the only method. Mirena and condoms are also good options.

  • I was always told not to take it when breastfeeding, that it could have a negative effect on supply. I always used the minipill while breastfeeding and never had any issues with it.
