what are must haves for a newborn

i was wondering what you think are must haves for a baby...my husband and i are try to get prego and were buying things a little at a time

  • diapers and whatever your food source is. some things people love other people find no use for. for example, i hated the diaper genie, never used it but some mothers say they couldnt live without it... gl

  • Onesies or shirts with the mittens attached. Its so much easier than trying to keep those tiny mittens on. A butt specific thermometer. Vicks makes a good one that's probe is'nt long enough to go too far in.

  • a lot more burping blankets then you think you'll need. Mine kept disappearing like the missing sock in th dryer. And you'll only need like 2 packs of newborn diapers cuz they grow out of them fast.

  • you need a few changes of clothes, some nappies and somewhere for the baby to sleep - that's it! All the rest is nice to have but a newborn really just needs strong arms to hold her, and love- everything you see in the essentials list of a baby magazine is a marketers dream come true

  • never used a butt thermometer on any of my 4 kids- so there you go, one Moms essential is anothers not-at-all item :-)

  • Lots of diaper and wipes, my youngest will be 3 weeks tomorrow and i breastfeed so he poops ALOT!! so i also use vaseline on his bottom to keep the poop from skin contact. GOOD LUCK WITH EVERYTHING!!!

  • oh haha I'm an Aussie - we called diapers nappies - (think it was originally napkins) but yep Nappy - no-one in Oz says diaper at all

  • i liked the little gowns with the elastic at the bottom. they looked comfy. but you really dont need much. diapers. few clothes. bed of some kind. blankets.
