Do you not feel pretty anymore?

Never get compliaments from DH - even if I have a new outfit on or we go on a date and he just doesn't look at me in that way anymore.

  • I know I'm not pretty and I hate when DH says I am. It's so ridiculous, like saying the sky is red. I feel stupid every time he says it.

  • I don't feel pretty, but I am. If I go out I can see guys checking me out, but in my head I always think they're looking at my sagging tummy or my "loose" arms.

In order for me to feel pretty I have to "whore" it up- meaning short skirt, heels, boobs up to my chin, make-up, basically a disguise.

  • yes, I feel not pretty.. but partly that is my fault. I gained weight on my meds, 40 lbs. stopped wearing makeup cause I felt it made me look even fatter, then i started wearing sweats so I didn't have to buy bigger pants.. I stopped doing my hair cause really, at this point. why bother.. my husband STILL loves me.. I am sure he;s not attracted to me but still wants to be intimate.. so I decided to make a change.. 8 years after gaining my weight. I JUST started a center to help me lose the weight.. I quit smoking, stopped drinking my 8 cans of soda a day, I have been going to a chriopractor to help my back pain.. then I will make the changes in my clothes hair - I may never go back to makeup though

  • I know how you feel, I'm in a bit of a slump myself, I've even been dressing up more and other guys look but SO, I have to tell him to tell me something nice and then it doesn't really mean it.

  • I feel the same way.. Sometimes I can look at myself and say not bad but most days I am just thinking why cant I be a good looking person.
If I catch a guy looking at me I immediately think that they are looking in disgust, that they are thinking -EWWW.
If DH says I look HOT or something , like the above poster said, I feel stupid!

  • I'm so sorry you feel that way. NO woman should feel that way about herself.
But also.. No woman should be waiting or expecting or wanting a man (no matter who that man is) to make her feel pretty. Feeling pretty comes from within, it's all about how a woman views herself, her own self image, her own self-esteem.

I feel radiantly beautiful everyday.. Not just because my husband tells me I'm beautiful everyday.. But because I feel beautiful everyday, I feel I'm beautiful, I see myself as beautiful. I do things for myself that make me feel good about me, that reinforce my self image, and my self esteem.

Every woman should feel pretty for herself, no one else..Every woman should do whatever it is she needs to do for herself (exercise, diet, make up, wacky hats... whatever) in order to keep your self image high, her self esteem high and yes so that SHE sees herself as the beautiful woman she ultimately is.
