Why doesn't he do anything?

There are 3 Navy seals standing trial for the supposed "abuse" of a terrorist. If the charges are true, which the seals deny, the guy got popped in the nose and punched in the stomach. This terrorist is responsible for the death of 3 Blackwater employees. We all watched in horror as their charred bodies hung from a bridge. If they did it I say who cares. It appears as if the case itself is crumbling anyway. President Obama could easily step in as Commander in Chief and put a stop to it. It would be a very popular decision. Why won't he do it?

  • Rarely do military skip that many chains of command for new directive. But, I agree~ it would be a popular decision and would win Obama support from everyone EXCEPT his far left liberal base..

  • There are a lot of things Obama could do as Commander in Chief, but he hasn't...because he lacks leadership skills--he's a weak little follower, so why start now?

  • Anon, he could just do it. Just like the troops he sent to Afganistan, Congress can choose not to fund the troops but it's the President who sends them. As commander in chief of the military he literally could order the court martial stopped and the seals returned to duty.

  • That's not at all his job as Commander in Chief to get involved in the military justice system.

  • In case you haven't noticed, Obama has a great deal of concern for the right's of criminals and terrorists. Even if he was in charge of getting involved in this, which he's not, I doubt he would care. He'd probably think it wasn't right to handle Osama Bin Laden too roughly if a soldier happened to find him.

  • The fiance of one of the Seals answered that question this morning on Fox. She said the Seals want the court martial. They want the trial because it will prove they are innocent and not leave any questions or doubts. If PBO steps in, they will never get a chance to show the world they are innocent.

I'm well aware of THOSE people! They're all just as bad as Obama. But what I really want to know is did you use that same argument (above) when BUSH was in office? You did know that Bush wasn't the ONLY person making decisions, right?! (Hint: Democrats have been in control of Congress since 2007) :o)
