does robbery mean 13 years in jail?

so this guy i know got out of jail through a bond. he says he's facing 13 years for robbery (i'm thinking armed robbery). but the bond itself was only $500. isnt a bond payment just 10% of what it really is? so it was really $5000?

for armed robbery, could he be put away for 13 years? he "says" that they can/might lessen it to just probation and rehab for his addiction... but isnt that kind of steep? from 13 years to probation?

  • sometimes people can get off for worse things.

here a man raped an 11 year old girl and videotaped it..... when we was arrested, he said she consented ( that was his whole case, was that the 11 year old consented) ...anyways he got 7 years ...but a chance for parole in 2....

  • wow glam that is just horrible that isn't justice in any sense :(

OP I agree going from actual jail time to merely probation is a big drop..he should have to serve time but at any rate he is likely to break the rules of that probation at some point and wind up behind bars anyway..esp if he has a history.

  • My son got 10 years probation for being a part of an assault/robbery. It could have been 15 years prison time (which is what the guy who committed the assault got) but he didn't commit the assault. His crime was not calling 911 after the assault and spending a part of the stolen money. BTW, there as no weapon of any kind involved. So, yes, you could get 13 years for robbery.
