Recovery after adenoid removal?

My son is having an adenoidectomy in a couple of weeks, as well as a 2nd set of tubes placed. I've been given post-op instructions, but wanted to hear "real world" advice about the recovery.
Also, hubby and I are going out of town a week later. Grandparents (who are awesome) are taking care of him. Should he be recovered for the most part by then, other than still taking meds?

  • He throat will be very sore and will be very cranky. My DD was 5 whe she had the same thing done. She was doing ok in a couple of days. But eating regular food took a while to do. As long as the grandparts know his throte is sore they shold be ok.
