What songs make you sad?

I have seen so many different people get affected by so many different songs and I was just wondering what songs can really get to people. One of the ones that gets me is "Its All Over but the Crying" by Garbage

  • To Where You Are by Josh Groban - my aunt used it as the music on a memorial slideshow she made of my mom, so it always brings up those feelings.

  • Odd maybe to some - until you listen to the words - Willie Nelson's Last Thing I Needed The First Thing This Morning..... It's just sad, read some of the lyrics....

~Last night you came home late
And I knew you'd been drinking
By that old mellow look on your face
    I thought, "It don't matter
    'Cause it's the holiday season"
And you fill such a big empty space
But then I laid down beside you
    And I wanted your lovin'
Because your love makes my life complete

But the last thing I needed
    The first thing this morning
Was to have you walk out on me

    So excuse me for lookin'
    Like my world just ended
    And excuse me for lookin'
Like I just lost my best friend

    And excuse me for livin'
    And being forgiving
So just go on if you want to be free

But the last thing I needed
    The first thing this morning
Was to have you walk out on me

  • Steven Curtis Chapman's song "Heaven is the Face" makes me sad. He wrote it about his little daughter who was killed in a car crash. I think she was about 6 years old. The song is about how he looks forward to heaven and seeing her, and about all the things he misses about her.

  • You said song(s) so here's the other. This is one that DH told me was his life's theme before he met me..... Nutshell by Alice in Chains. Holy my goodness - you listen to that one and think of the man YOU love being in THAT place and it just breaks your heart.

  • It's too late to apologize and right now I"m blanking on the artist. IT's the song that finally made me admit to myself I had to give up on my husband coming back and move forward with my life. And my front porch looking in by rascal flats, it was the song that played in my mind when I said yes to marry him and it was our wedding song.

  • Itsnotsobad, Nutshell makes me cry thinking about Layne Staley dying so young--wasting his talents. His soul bleeds the lyrics to that song!
