crocheting a purse without fabric?

I am just about done with a crocheted purse for a friend of mine. All I have left to do is line the inside with fabric...but I am so fed up with it. The yarn keeps getting caught in the machine and hand sewing it would be too much work. Would it be a bad idea to give the purse without the fabric?

  • I did a double crochet stitch....is that strong enough to hold stuff? should I maybe crochet some extra yarn and attach it to the bottom for a double layer?
