If a 6th grader brings a gun to school and the principle does not follow the proper protocal

should he loose his job? or just be punished?
A kid brought a gun to school to show it off to a girl, the girl sent a text to her mom, her mom called the school. principle called the boys parents and he was sent home with his parents. When the word got out other parents called the police about this. not the principle.
What should have happened was a lock down then the law called in to search the building and have the kid be brought to juvie hall to have a judge decide from there what should be done.
The principle thought it was enough to have the boy turned over to his parents....The school board is deciding what to do with the principle and will announce the decision on Friday.
What do you think? He learned his lesson and should be given a second chance, or loose his job?

  • I don't see any reason to have a lockdown and upset the rest of the kids. The cops should have been involved. Not sure the kid should go to juvie right away. I think the parents are entitled to at least discuss the details of the situation with the cops before anything happens, and I think the kid has a right to have a parent with him at all times just like an adult has a right to a lawyer. Who legally owned the gun? How did the kid get it? Was it loaded? And was he under or over the age of 12? Was this in a major city or out in wilds of Montana? Maybe all my questions were in the mind of the principal who would have had at least some of the answers, and maybe he should be trusted to have weighed and balanced the severity of the situation.
