Why does the God of Abraham....

Why does the God of Abraham not like magic, witchcraft, etc.?
If it is because most witches use the power of other Gods, what if someone used the name/power of the God of Abraham? Would he still be mad?
Why exactly does he not like it?

  • He doesn't like the competition. Actually, IF you were male, you could perform magic in god's name. Moses and his little "tricks" in the court of the Eyptian pharoah. Joseph and his divination with the help of a silver cup. Paul was particularly fond of curses and cursed a woman and her husband to death for withholding some of their OWN money from his church. And the biggest magician of all--Jesus, himself. Using psychic healing, magically turning the loaves and two fishes into a banquet for a multitude, walking on water--a trick that might turn Cris Angel green with envy. The Kaballah has a tradition that King Solomon used magic to build the temple with the help of a ring inscribed with a pentacle. Which makes sense. If you ask god for ALL wisdom, it makes sense that you'd be a magician!

  • It is because people believe God is all powerful and we as people can't command him. We can pray and ask for assistance or support but we can't make something happen ourselves.

  • Because he wants people to think we don't HAVE any power and that we need to depend on HIM for everything. It's a trick.

  • Why does the God of Abraham not like magic, witchcraft, etc.? Because it gives place to evil spirits and turns us away from Him. Without Him we are subject to the devil's wiles.

If it is because most witches use the power of other Gods, what if someone used the name/power of the God of Abraham? Would he still be mad?  God's anger isn't the issue here. He wants to protect us from Satan. Satan can do miracles, he has power, too. God doesn't want us to be deceived by Satan's miracles as they will lead to our destruction. He loves us and He wants to keep us safe.

  • The God of Abraham instructs magic all through out the first testament. Witch craft on the other hand is frowned upon, b/c the energy and power utilized comes from with-in. The God of Abraham is a jealous one and he want all the glory and all the praise. (acknowledging self and nature instead of him is a sin).

  • The God of Abraham not only was okay with witchcraft and magick but supported it all through the OT. The thing was that he didn't want his people to develop the ability to use ones own energy. All examples of God Okayed Magick were always examples of HIS power being channeled through men. Why is this? Well, simply because he wanted people to depend on him 100%. He didn't want them to have the ability to not need him.

It's not really until the NT that witchcraft and magick are "damned." And at that point it becomes clear that he simply wants to be the only one with any authority. He goes from being willing to share his power and give men SOME authority, to wanting to be the ONLY one with power or authority... When the shift goes from Israel to Christianity that the shift in power changes...

Really with either instance, it's pure arrogance!

  • From what I understand the witches back the used their powers in a very BAD way. Curses, hexes, suduction. So it was more keeping morals.
