Why are Tea Partiers so angry about their taxes when they are at a historical low right now?

"Middle-income Americans are now paying federal taxes at or near historically low levels, according to the latest available data. That’s true whether it comes to their federal income taxes or their total federal taxes.

"A family of four in the exact middle of the income spectrum will pay only 4.6 percent of its income in federal income taxes this year, according to the...Tax Policy Center. This is the second-lowest percentage in the past 50 years."

  • Because of all the money that is being spent now. It will have to get paid. Eventually our taxes will go up, and our children will be forever paying the country's debt.

  • It's not income tax that is the issue. It's sales tax and tax on services. The government is nickle and diming us to death.

  • Because they are about to go up. Here's a clue - check out state and local tax rates - those go up before federal. Along with sales tax and property taxes. The states don't have the money to pay for these programs and the funding runs out within a year or so - where do you think they are making it up? And AFTER the state and local taxes go up, then the federal taxes will go up - you do realize you pay more than just income tax, right? You pay 60% of the cost of any tax levied against any business or service provider. You also pay for increased prices as the tax on resource providers is passed on to manufacturers who use those resources and pass them on to you. Basic economics. Case in point - ask how many people have already been informed their health insurance premiums are going up within the next 18 months.

  • Look beyond this year please ..and i'm completely sick of Obama's arrogance he certainly is one to talk about our arrogance. With his policies and actions he has taken HC bill...plans to end the Bush tax cuts (which DID help the middle class by the way too eventhough alot from the left said it only helped the rich folks) the spendulous bill (stimulus) and more to come...surely anyone knows hiked up taxes will come. That HC bill alone has tons of hidden taxes involved.

this my response copied and pasted from another very recent post on this..I pointed out Obamas arrogance because of his statement that we should be thanking him..pfft not hardly

  • Sales Taxes and service taxes are determined by the STATE. If you don't like them, don't blame the President.

California is the home of the unfunded mandate...and the state's own voters in many cases have only themselves to blame because of all the initiatives passed in the past 30 years.

I agree that we have to look beyond this year...but we also have to look beyond the politicians and look at OURSELVES in the mirror...we are to blame for our own messes just as much as they are.
