Crochet with beads or buttons

How can I crochet with beads or buttons? What can I make? I know if I use metal I can make jewlery, but what if I use doily thread? Has anyone tried this before? I'm getting a little bored with afghans, amigurumi, teddy bears, dolls, sweaters, and dresses. I'd like to try something new to jazz it up a bit.

  • String the beads on the thread/yarn before beginning your project and slide them into place as needed. Theoretically, I'm sure you could string them on from the other end as you need them, but I really wouldn't suggest that. Just choose beads that fit your thread size and you should be fine.

  • Right. But what do I make with it? lol A long chain? : ) Probably a scarf or sweater or something? Anyone know where to find patterns for this? Bracelets, bags? I'm totally flaking here.
