Blood glucose level in children?

I have gestational diabetes and i was checking my levels and my 3yr old ds wanted me to poke his finger too. I said ok. His level was at 138. He hasnt eaten sense lunch... About 4 hours now. Dose anyone know if a childs levels should be the same as an adults or what theyshould be?

  • As far as I know, it should be about the same as an adult, 90-135 or so. Do not freak out because it seems high once. Do not keep pricking him, lol.... Tell the doctor the next time he has an appt. Unless you see signs of diabetes like excessive thirst, unusual hunger or excessive urination. (all of which can SEEM unusual for an active three year old).
    By the way, I love your kids' names. How did you pick them?

  • Lol my son got his name from the actor Michael Keaton. My mom loves him and i delivered my son six weeks early and didnt have a name picked out so i let my mom name him. My little girl Hazel is named after my great grandma. I like names that arent commen but not crazy like apple or star lol. Thanks.

  • as far as i know they should be almost the same as an adults. my dd whos 4 has issues with low bloodsugar. everyone on both sides of my family has diabetes 1 and 2 so always paying attention to my kids'.
