  • red meat! There is a difference between the iron that is in red meat and the iron that is in veggies (heme vs non heme - my dr explained it to me) and the iron that is in red meat is more readily absorbed by your body than that in other sources.

  • Whole grains (wheat, oats), lentils (beans), soy (and tofu), red meat, tuna, salmon, eggs, leafy greens like broccoli, kale or spinach. White meat has SOME iron, but not as much as red meat.

  • Drink orange juice when you eat foods high in iron; it helps your body absorb it.
