Dress up box..

Hey ladies, I need a bit of help.
My DD is turning two in a few weeks and I was thinking about making her a dress up box as a gift. I thought I would buy an unfurnished box and paint it to match her room, decorate it with some of her favorite stuff, etc. Then fill it with dress up clothes for her.

First, do you guys think this is a good idea for a 2 y/o? Second, where can I find GREAT items to add, and what items are best for this age?

Thanks in advance!

  • I think it's a great idea! When my DD was that small she loved dressing up, and I loved watching her imagination run wild!

  • They have cute dress up clothes in Toys R Us. You can add old gloves and scarves. It's such a good idea.

  • It's a great idea for a 2 year old! My daughter loves skirts or tu-tus with elastic waists that she can easily slip on and off. She also like hats, purses, and bracelets. She enjoys pieces of fabric she can tuck into her clothes to "make" shirts and skirts. She likes shoes too, but I find the little plastic dress up shoes are dangerous and can cause falls and twisted ankles; I found some that are more like ballet slippers that aren't as dangerous. We don't do anything with long ties or scarves either because she doesn't understand yet about not wrapping them around her neck; I didn't think about this much with my older one who loved her feather boa, but my husband is extremely paranoid about this particular risk.

  • has super cute and comfortable dress up clothes. Toy R Us, Target, Wal-Mart, etc have some cute dress up clothes and accessories. I have found some things at Dollar Tree. You might find cute after Easter clearance for hats, gloves, and accessories. If you can sew you can make skirts very easily. You can also find lots of people making tu-tus and dress up clothes at craft malls or online.
