At what age can you introduce peanut butter?

I know that, with the growing number of children born with nut allergies, doctors recommend waiting awhile before introducing nut products to your baby. My daughter is almost 17 months old. Is she old enough for a peanut buttersandwich?

  • use very little, but yes you can give it to her. she has no other allergies? give it to her a couple days in a row and keep an eye on her, a reaction may not show the first time its introduced, but the second time it will.

  • I believe our pedi told us that peanut butter and nut products are ok after a year or 18 months, don't remember which (just keep an eye out for any kind of reaction, just like with any new food), but to wait on actual nuts until 2 years.
