When did you stop using the high chair?

My daughter is 21 months and we still use it, but she does have her own small table in the dining room beside the big table...but she still is quite messy sometimes. Lately, she wants out of the high chair, grabs her plate/bowl and goes and sits at her little table....thinking maybe we should pack up the high chair.

  • that was mean first anon. no need for that. depending on what she is eating i would still put her in it. some things are easier to clean up than others but for the most part i would let her sit at her little table or get her a booster seat for the big table.

  • We never had a high chair. Our house is just too small for it. We got a booster chair from Babies R Us. It was like $12-15. You strap it to the back of a dining chair and to the seat. It came with a snap on tray for when he was littler and has 3 different heights. Then, when he was tall enough, we stopped using the tray and scooted him up to the table. He's 2yr 4mo and we still use the booster. Oh, and it has the straps to strap him in (we don't need them anymore). Is your dining table over carpet? I can totally understand the spaghetti sauce!! If it is, I suggest getting something big and plastic to put underneath her area to save you scrubbing. I'd say she's done with the high chair. Get it out of your way. ;) Good Luck!

  • At around 18 months we moved our kids from a highchair to a booster with a tray, and then removed the tray and put the booster at the table when they were tall enough.

  • 13 mos dd stopped using her high chair and started using her booster seat... i just pushed her up to the table and cleaned up the mess like always: Pull her out, strip her naked, clean the table, seat, and floor then bath time
