How much should I charge?

I am a student with a education certificate. I'm working towards my education degree in bilingual education which will be in about 1 year. I wanted to start teaching spanish to children as a side job so to speak and offered to teach children for 10 an hour which I thought was a decent rate. However I was offered a job - program to teach 10 kids at a club house. Once a week for an hour. How much should I charge? I would love to teach spanish. Help!!

  • Because you're only working once a week for an hour, you should charge per child. One-hundred dollars per child sounds suitable enough.

  • OOPS! I take that back... I misread. I thought you were teaching ESL. If teaching Spanish to English speaking children, I would charge more.... probably $160 for 16 weeks.

  • Would I collect payment up front? Or collect when I have taught the class? Sorry ladies I've never done this before.

  • I would collect 1/2 up front and the other 1/2 half way through the 'program".
