What is the best birth control when Breastfeeding??

I was given the mini pill by my ob but have hear conflicting ideas about it. what is the best BC when BF-ing??? safest? wont affect milk production??

  • I had a mirena while breast -feeding, and really liked it.

    An IUD isn't for everyone, but pills had given me bad emotional side-effects, so it was a great alternative for me.

  • IUD I have the mirena!! I love it I have had it for 2 years now, because its a slight hormone release I dont have a period since Im not BF anymore. I spot once every 6 months for about 2 days and thats it!!! and I dont have to worry about forgetting to take a pill.

    And since its very little hormones compared to the pill I dont get mood swings or bloating.

  • The mini-pill is best for those who prefer pills. IUDs are also good.

    Non-estrogen is your main concern; estrogen is a known supply killer.
