How do I stop lactating and making the pain go away?

  • Well, the best solution is to nurse a baby, but since there isn't much detail here, there could be any number of reasons you're not able to do that. Ultimately, it will take time. If you can't nurse your baby, I recommend hand expressing or pumping JUST enough milk to ease the pain. Do that just a little every time it hurts, but try to do it less and less (if you find yourself doing more and more, or the same, you're maintaining your supply.) Good luck!

  • They say to put a cabbage leaf in your bra. But if you have any allergies to sulfur/ sulfa you can't. Look it up if you're confused.
    I'd say just gradually stop. If you just stop cold turkey, it will be VERY painful..but if you keep feeding, or pumping on a regular's never gunna go away. It is painful...there's really no easy way to do it...

  • Nursing is the best solution, agreed. But if your choosing not to your going to have to wait until your body realizes it needs to stop producing milk. Maybe try cold cabbage leaves, warm shower or compress.
